By God’s grace, we are committed to NEVER peddle the Word of God. Paul said:
2 Corinthians 2:17 (KJV)
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt (market, peddle, make a trade from) the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
The actual Greek word Paul used for “corrupt” is the word kapēleuō which means to retail, make a trade from, peddle, etc. It literally means that many people use the Word of God and the ministry to get money. They see ministry as a means for financial gain and self-advancement. This corrupts their ministry and often causes them to tell people what they want to hear. They are serving mammon and not God.
There is nothing wrong with receiving offerings for the work of the ministry, but seeking to use the ministry to prosper ourselves is corrupting God’s Word. For that reason, we do not sell the Word of God and by God’s grace are committed to that standard. We accept offerings and by God’s grace will use them wisely to continue to spread the true Gospel of Christ. We live simple lives and consider every cent given as holy and belonging to God.
